10th Scientific Conference on Organic Agriculture in Zürich, Switzerland
The 10th Scientific Conference on Organic Agriculture 'Wissenschaftstagung’ will take place February 11-13, 2009, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Ttechnology ETH, Zürich.
It will be organised by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, the Federal Research station Agroscope Reckenholz-Tänikon ART and the Department of Agriculture and Food Sciences (D-AGRL) of the ETH.
It will be supported by the Swiss Federal Agency for Agriculture FOAG, the Sustainability Fund of Coop Switzerland and the Federall Agency for the Environment BAFU.
The conference language is German.
African Organic Conference 2009 (May 19th-22nd,2009), Kampala, Uganda
“Fast tracking sustainable development in Africa
through harnessing Organic Agriculture and Biotechnology”
The Conference will focus on clearly bringing out attributes of Organic
Agriculture as a science relevant to sustainable development, poverty
eradication and assured food security in Africa. Organic Agriculture
impacts on all development sectors and elements of sustainability in a
characteristic way, which is seriously needed to achieve lasting
solutions to factors limiting economic growth on the continent.
Furthermore, the conference will explore Organic agriculture as a science in contrast to other schools of
thought, and how it relates to Biotechnology in contributing towards sustainable agricultural and economic
development. Therefore, the conference will exhibit up to date scientific innovations and other development
initiatives achieved over years. Participants will share and exchange that knowledge, which is very much
needed for national development of the Organic Agriculture sector and Bio-safety programmes.

International Scientific Conference “Fostering healthy food systems through organic agriculture – focus on Nordic-Baltic region” in August 2009 in Estonia
From August 25-27, 2009 the international scientific conference “Fostering healthy food systems through organic agriculture –focus on Nordic-Baltic region” (NJF seminar 422) will take place in Tartu, Estonia.
The aim is to provide opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and further scientific co-operation in Nordic-Baltic region. Conference is open to all fields of research involved in organic agriculture, the main topics being:
- Soil fertility and nutrient management
- Organic field crop production
- Organic horticulture
- Farming systems and environmental impacts
- Animal health and husbandry
- Food quality and human health
- Marketing, economy and policy
World Congress on Organic Cotton, 21. - 25. September in Interlaken (Switzerland)
Organic cotton in a global context
The congress topics will link into key global issues such as the world economic crisis, the food crisis, climate change and the growing need for companies and governments to manage risk and quality.
