Third International IFOAM Conference on Biodiversity and Organic Agriculture
“The role of Organic Agriculture for Biodiversity: Current Contributions and Future Possibilities”

The relationship between biodiversity, nature protection and organic agriculture -- including the impact of genetic engineering on biodiversity and organic agriculture - will be examined through keynote presentations, plenary sessions, and workshops. In order to make the resultant knowledge accessible to a broader audience, the proceedings of the conference shall be synthesized into a publication produced in concert by the organizers.

1st QLIF Training Workshop - Healthy Soil, Healthy Crops, Healthy People

The aim of the two-days workshop is to transfer both theoretical background knowledge and practical skills in the use of new techniques and experimental approaches.

Participants will be PhD students and junior scientists/post-doctoral researchers. There is a maximum of 40 participants.

For the first Workshop of the European Projekt Quality Low Input Food, activities are focused around three themes:

  • Soil quality; how to assess; the role of long-term trials
  • Soil life; relation to soil quality, how to assess
  • Soil quality - crop quality - healthy nutrition. Research approaches

6th Scientific Conference of IFOAM Asia, supported by ISOFAR

IFOAM-Asia holds 6th Scientific Conference and General Assembly every 2 years with the objectives of providing a forum to all IFOAM members and non-members for exchanging and sharing information, knowledge & experience on organic agriculture. The focus of the 6th conference will be on safe food and benign environment for Asian community as the theme. The venue is Yangpyung county, Republic of Korea. The conference is supported by ISOFAR.

The 6th IFOAM-Asia Scientific conference and General Assembly is organized by Research Institute of Organic Agriculture in Dankook University, Korea, Korean Organic Farming Association, Yangpyung county / Korea, IFOAM-Asia. It is conducted by Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, Dankook University, Korea.

The sixth conference comprises workshops, technical sessions on soil fertility, organic seeds, farmer participatory research in organic agriculture and rural development. The poster and organic product exhibition will be another event. The conference will reflect the development of organic agriculture in Asia and it provides a forum for sharing experiences and knowledge among people from different disciplines including farmers.

From 29 to 31 March 2004 the First World Congress on the “Safety of Organic Foods - Meeting the Challenges of Safety and Quality for Fruits, Vegetables, and Grain” is taking place at Michigan State University. 2nd SAFO Workshop: Development of organic livestock farming: potential and limitations of husbandry practice to secure animal health, welfare and food quality, Witzenhausen Germany

The workshop will focus on the challenge of improving animal health and welfare and food quality and safety on organic farms through husbandry practise and without the routine use of veterinary inputs. Sessions will focus on existing problems, the contribution that breeding, feeding and housing can provide in to the overall system and how the different elements are brought together at the farm level.

11th International Conference on Cultivation Techniques and Phytopathological Problems in Organic Fruit-Growing

This conference, which will take place in Weinsberg, Germany, represents a continuation of ten previous meetings and is intended to bring together active researchers and advisers involved in organic fruit growing to discuss latest results and methods. The main object is the coordination of research and to organise joint research projects. The conference is organised by Fördergemeinschaft ökologischer Obstbau e.V., Staatliche Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Wein- und Obstbau and EUGROF – the European Group of Researchers on Organic Fruit-Growing. Abstracts may be handed in by November 15th 2003.
