What will Organic Farming deliver? COR 2006, in Edinburgh, UK
This conference is organised by the Association of Applied Biologists in conjunction with COR - the Colloquium of Organic Researchers.
Organic farming systems are increasingly recognised throughout the world as a realistic alternative to intensive industrial agriculture. Consequently there is also an increasing amount of research activity both formal and informal linked to the study of organic farming systems. This biennial conference aims to provide a forum where approaches to, and unresolved issues arising from research in organic farming systems can be aired and new thinking enabled.
The themes identified for the main platform sessions are consequently broad; the widest possible interpretation should be made about topics suitable within each of the following themes: Health, Profit, better environments.

A systems approach to organic research COR 2006 postgraduate course, Edinburgh, UK
The aim of the course is to encourage new researchers (especially postgraduate students) in the field of organic food and farming to think about their work in a broader multi-disciplinary, systems framework and to identify
possible links with other research taking place in the UK and internationally.
The course is integrated with the COR 2006 conference: What will organic farming deliver? The course will emphasise three issues:
1. Understanding the systems and multi-disciplinary context which makes individual research projects relevant
2. Exploring appropriate research methods in the main subject areas
3. Learning about current research and networking with other researchers

ISOFAR Workshop: Energy self-reliance in organic farming - is it feasible?
Fossil energy resources are limited and expected to become more expensive in the future. At the same time the accelerating fossil energy use results in enhanced greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. Although organic farming aims at using renewable sources of energy, fossil energy constitute a dominant energy supply in large part of global organic farming.
The workshop is held on 1 June 2006; 9.00 am - 12.00 pm at Odense Congress Centre in Denmark. The time and location will enable participants in the Joint Organic Congress to participate in the workshop.
Detailed Information is available at the Homepage of the Joint Organic Congress to take place at the end of May 2006.
Registration to the workshop is possible via http://www.organic-congress.org/registration.html
